Radon Mitigation Systems for Your NH Home or Business

Keep your family safe from this dangerous gas

For radon mitigation in your NH home, the water professionals at Capital Well have the systems and the experience to perform the tasks needed to keep you and your family safe. From testing, to mitigation and removal, we have over 30 years of experience making sure you have the cleanest, purest water possible.

It’s never too late to be safe, especially when it comes to gases, like the colorless, tasteless and odorless radon, which occurs naturally in the NH granite and in the public and private wells drilled from within that bedrock. Nearly one out of every 15 homes in the U.S. is estimated to have an elevated radon level (4.0 pCi/L or greater), and in New Hampshire that number is one in three!

Radon occurs when radium breaks down and is considered a health hazard due to its high radioactivity. It typically enters the home from the ground, and into the air, through cracks in the foundation and through the up-flow of private well water. Any home, new or old, with or without basements, can face potential radon issues. No home is immune.

Know the dangers. There is no safe level of radon…

Not only can radon be ingested through tainted drinking water, radon from bedrock wells is commonly released into the air of your home during activities such as showering, dishwashing or doing laundry, causing radon solids to leech into the air you breathe, and cling to dust particles in the air that then attach to the airways of the lungs.

Exposure to radon poses an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer, primarily those of the lungs and stomach. Radon in the air of your home can also be transferred into the lungs from second-hand smoke and stands as the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers, responsible for 21,000 deaths annually.

State and federal agencies recommend taking steps to lower radon concentrations when they equal or exceed 4.0 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) in the lowest and most commonly used space of a home.

Radon Mitigation & Remediation | How Can Capital Well Help?

First, testing.

Radon testing is the first step to mitigation, remediation and its ultimate removal — and the only way to be sure you and your family are safe. For every 10,000 pCi/L of radon in a home’s water supply, the radon concentration in indoor air is increased by 1 pCi/L. Concentration can vary substantially from one test to another so the New Hampshire DES recommends at least two tests, at least 30 days apart, prior to making any treatment decisions.

The primary method for radon mitigation is aeration, a process in which fresh oxygen is driven or bubbled into the water. Using state-of-the-art water treatment systems, our team helps deliver to our NH residential and commercial customers the cleanest, purest water possible.

Eliminate your worries with an experienced and licensed well water contractor and keep your water clean, clear, and safe.

Jonathan, I wanted to drop a couple of lines to tell you how satisfied and happy that I chose Capital Well Co. for my water needs. From your lead man Steve to your drill people, your plumbing guy and your guy on the back hoe. Everyone that cast a shadow on my door threshold were polite, professional and willing to take the time to explain and answer my questions; which were many . Jon, it was my pleasure to meet you today and pleased that you came by for a follow up visit and explain how the heater works. SO...if I get a chance to tell everyone that needs a new well, I definitely will. It is apparent there is no "I" in your team . Thank you everyone.
  • Richard Meaney

Mr. Swain, Thank you so much for the service Capital Well provided at my home today. I left a message with you at the behest of Ed Monty. I received a prompt phone call from Greg to arrange for a service call and to discuss what might need to be done. Promptly at (actually a few minutes before) the scheduled time, Bobby showed up to perform the service. Bobby was excellent at explaining the service, why some things were needed and how the well and pump worked, and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. All in all, this was a very positive experience for us. Thanks to you and the people at Capital Well for prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
